Lahari was started by a group of Advocates more than 33 years ago, to promote cultural and literary
pursuits within the legal fraternity. What started as a popular study circle was re-christened as the
Lahari Advocates Forum (LAF), a registered Society that celebrated its tri-decennial year in 2018. LAF
conducts orientation programmes for judicial aspirants as also book exhibitions for the benefit of the
members of the Bar. To promote latent talents of Advocates and of members of their families; LAF
has also been conducting cultural programmes and painting competitions. A unique venture of LAF
is the “Communique”, an in-house monthly newspaper covering events and information concerning
the legal fraternity. This being the only paper of its kind has completed 32 years of its publication.
LAF is also conducting “Chinthana – Manthana”, a study circle discussing various aspects of law and
procedures every Thursday at 4.30 p.m., at the City Civil Court premises. LAF also organizes blood
and eye donation camps. LAF has initiated the custom of celebrating Advocates’ Day on the 3rd of
December every year as an occasion for Advocates to rededicate themselves to the cause of law and
justice.
Over a period of time, Lahari spread its activities to various other areas touching the lives and
activities of advocates.
Lahari Foundation – is a registered Trust with the objective of providing medical assistance to
Advocates in need of such assistance.
Lahari Law Academy (LLA) – is a registered Trust concentrating on activities concerning Advocates
and law students. The LLA has been conducting moot courts, Model Parliament, quiz and talent
search competitions for the benefit of law students and young members of the Bar. LLA has also
been hosting seminars and workshops for the benefit of the legal fraternity.
Lahari Journalist Guild– focuses upon honing the journalistic skills of Advocates. Accordingly,
workshops and programmes are conducted to shape budding journalists within the legal fraternity.
Lahari Book Bank- is a veritable collection of biographies and autobiographies of eminent lawyers,
judges and jurists. It is an endeavour to encourage members of the Bangalore Bar to read the same
in the hope that the highest traditions of the Bar are emulated by the legal fraternity.
LAHARI, a movement of the Advocates, by the Advocates and for the Advocates has many more
tasks to accomplish and dreams to realize as it grows from strength to strength.
The LAHARI LAW ACADEMY had a phenomenal success in terms of the sheer number of law student
participants in the Moot Court Competition held at the City Civil Court Complex.
The LAHARI ADVOCATES FORUM successfully reached out and guided young law minds through the
STUDENT OUTREACH PROGRAM at, Bishop Cottons Law college.
